Which specific 4.4.x? Do you mean you can't update 4.4.8 to 4.4.9 (for example) or do you mean from 4.4.x to 5.x?
Can you name one extension as an example you're expecting to see updates for?
Regardless of being able to get the auto-update notification, can you install any update through the normal install extension method, and for Joomla core, update via the Upload and Update method? (as that is your fall-back methods for updating).
